K-Days to me, means one thing – food. I know, I know, there’s entertainment, and rides, and a date night that happens once a year – but let’s face it, I go for the food. Every year, I look forward to trying those gluttonous creations you can only find at the fair.
Rainbow Grilled Cheese | You know, it is recommended to eat a rainbow, I’m just not sure that this is the one they were talking about. Melt Town is going to feature a rainbow grilled cheese this year, and you’re going to want to get your hot hands on that colorful, delicious, cheesy goodness. Hey, it’s got fruit, so I’m going to justify noshing it down, that way.
Apple Pie Ice Cream Sandwich | Vanilla soft-serve ice cream and apple pie filling served inside a puffed cinnamon sugar rice crisp. This one sounds delicious and crams two of the things I love into one – apple pie and ice cream.
Mac and Cheese Stuffed Burgers | Macaroni & cheese-stuffed beef patties served w/classic burger toppings. I don’t think I’m ever going to be ambitious enough to stuff my own burgers with mac and cheese, so this tops my must-have list.
Bacon Beer Battered Corndog | Bacon corndog dipped in beer batter served w/bourbon BBQ sauce. I think I’m going to have to go more than one time to get to every food on this list – or bring a friend that’s as willing to risk a food coma as I am.
Mac n Cheese Dog | Footlong hot dog served w/creamy macaroni & cheese, premium centre cut bacon. What is that, two? Three? Items on this list that include mac and cheese? You can see a trend here, I’m sure.
Chicken and Waffles on a Stick | Southern fried chicken fried in sweet waffle batter topped w/hot sauce, maple syrup & powdered sugar. It doesn’t get any better than fair food than serving something on a stick – and this nails it.
Deep Fried Butter Tart | Honestly, can you even get better than deep frying one of the most delicious, sticky tarts that’s ever existed? Served w/caramel & whipped cream, this is one way to follow up all that mac and cheese.
Teriyaki Chicken Perogies | Cheese & potato perogies served w/chicken strips & sweet ginger-teriyaki sauce – there’s always got to be an oddball on the list, something that you think isn’t going to be delicious, but it just works. This year, I’m betting this is that dish.
