8 Adult Board Games You Need for Your Next ‘Games Night In’

When it comes to games night – you’ve got the classics, like Risk and Monopoly. Who doesn’t love a good game of risk? If you’re trying to break the ice, step out of your comfort zone and demonstrate just how much of a horrible person you are among a group of your closest friend, though – there are options for that too. Here, we’ve created a list of some of our favourite adult board games, party games and perfect double, or triple, date night in. It should be enough to get you through those cold winter nights.

Cards Against Humanity |  Cards Against Humanity is a party game for horrible people. Unlike most of the party games you’ve played before, Cards Against Humanity is as despicable and awkward as you and your friends. The game is simple. Each round, one player asks a question from a Black Card, and everyone else answers with their funniest White Card.

Never Have I Ever | Never Have I Ever is a party game for adults. This game will bring tears of laughter as you relive each player’s past and present. What may have seemed like a horrible idea at the time now earns points and makes you a winner. The game is simple. Each round, one player reads a Red Rule Card, and everyone else answers with their best Blue Card.

Pandemic | Four diseases have broken out in the world and it is up to a team of specialists in various fields to find cures for these diseases before mankind is wiped out. Players must work together playing to their characters’ strengths and planning their strategy of eradication before the diseases overwhelm the world with ever-increasing outbreaks. For example the Operation Specialist can build research stations which are needed to find cures for the diseases. The Scientist needs only 4 cards of a particular disease to cure it instead of the normal 5. But the diseases are out breaking fast and time is running out: the team must try to stem the tide of infection in diseased areas while also towards cures. A truly cooperative game where you all win or you all lose.

The Voting Game | The Voting Game begins when the first question card is revealed. e.g., Who would survive the longest in a zombie apocalypse? Players then vote anonymously for the player that is best described by the question. Results are tallied and revealed to the group – laughter is guaranteed! Each player guesses who voted for them. Players get one guess for every vote they received. If they guess correctly, the truth is revealed.

Telestrations After Dark | Our favourite party game is all grown up. Telestrations After Dark is the adults only version of the #1 LOL party game Telestrations. Draw what you see then guess what you saw for hilarious, weird, irresponsible and just plain wrong outcomes. Telestrations After Dark is “adults only” miscommunication at its best

Machi Koro | Welcome to the city of Machi Koro, the Japanese card game that is sweeping the world! Armed only with your trusty die and a dream, you must grow the sleepy town of Machi Koro into the largest city in the region. You will need to collect income from developments, build public works, and steal from your neighbors coffers (just make sure they aren’t doing the same to you)! They say you can’t build Rome in a day, but Machi Koro will be built in under 30 minutes! Game Play Machi Koro is a fast-paced and light-hearted die-rolling, engine-building game for you and up to 3 friends. Machi Koro more than holds up to the massive worldwide hype it has garnered. It’s the little game that packs a big wallop of fun in under 30 minutes.

Taboo | Taboo, the laugh out loud, out-of-your-seat game of forbidden words. In the Taboo game, you need to get your team to guess the secret word, but the obvious clues are strictly off-limits. To get your team to say pinball, would you say arcade, game, flippers, tilt or roll? In this game you can’t because all of those words are strictly forbidden. Get your team to guess as many words as you can while you race against the clock. But watch out; if you say a forbidden word, the other team will “squeak” you and you lose the word.
